Sprint for all projects (how to?)

Hi All!

New Plane user here!

So far Plane seems to tick all the boxes for my team, but I am getting stuck on 1 thing:

We have 2 weekly sprints that for all projects we have and so far I have found out that both cycle’s and lables (I tried as workaround) are managed per project.
What I ideally would have is a view where I can see all the workitems for 1 sprint over all the projects but I didn’t find the way to get there yet.

This sprint over all projects is not very typical is it?
Or am I mistaken here?

I hope someone can give me the nudge in the right direction

Thanks in advance,

Karim

Welcome to Plane !

Cycles are project-level in Plane. Most tools work this way since different projects often have different timelines and cadences.

For your use case, the current workaround is to create a workspace-level View filtered by date range matching your cycle dates. This would require your work items to have start and due dates that align with your sprint dates, so you can filter across all projects.

We also have Project Labels at the Workspace level.

Hi dancia,

Thanks for the helpfull info.
The Project Labels on the workspace leven would be the perfect workaround for me.

However, when I go into the Workspace settings I don’t have the settings described in the manual.
I can only enable project states and I cannot find the function for the labels.

I am running a Pro workspace.

Could there some setting that prevents me to do this?

Project Labels is available only on the Business plan. That’s an error in the docs and we’ll fix that.

Hi Dancia,

That clarify’s it, thanks!

I am trying to get the Workspace view with the filtered data range workaround going, but I am not really having succes.
The date related fitler criteria I have are start date and due date. When I match those to my cycle I don’t get any work items.
The workitems don’t have start and due dates though. They have cycles.

Anything I might be missing?

Would love to show my team a view with all the tasks per sprint/cycle sorted by projects for instance.
That would really help me show the worth of Plane internally.

The issue is that your work items don’t have start and due dates set and they only have cycles assigned. For the workspace-level view to work with date filtering, you’ll need to add start and due dates to the work items that match your cycle dates.

Once you add those dates to your work items, you’ll be able to filter across all projects by date range to see everything in a given sprint.

I know it’s extra work, but that’s the current workaround until we have cross-project cycle views.
